'Gnarly Bugs' Prompt Rock Band 4 Leaderboard Wipe

If you've been kicking donkey on Rock Band four since its release this fall, Harmonix has some bad news.

The game shipped with some "gnarly bugs," developers revealed this calendar week, including the ability for drummers to "double-deploy overdrive by hit the green 'Overdrive' gems at the end of dynamic pulsate fills." Translation: it let you lot unfairly inflate your score and climb the leaderboards.

As a result, Harmonix will "wipe all of the leaderboard scores for all songs" as part of its January update, because the changes it's making "impact almost every song, instrument, and difficulty in the game."

After that, the game maker will make an "adjustment to our code that will allow us, in the time to come, to accost vocal-specific bugs and upshot targeted leaderboard wipes." Throughout the spring, information technology will also "be rolling out some score fidelity fixes to individual songs."

"Nosotros know that many of y'all take worked difficult to climb the leaderboards, and that wiping your scores sucks," Harmonix said. "That said, these changes will ensure that in the time to come, y'all won't exist unseated from the top spot by someone using an exploit. And if we do detect an issue down the road, we can accost it much more quickly and hands."

The wipes only affect high scores you've posted to leaderboards. "Those of yous who are racking upward Total Combos won't lose that data on your local saves," Harmonix explained. "Yous'll also hold on to the 'song plays' stat visible on the Role player Stats screen. As far as your song library goes, it'll continue to brandish the accuracy and star count for your highest-scoring performances to date. These stats will be replaced the starting time time you re-play each song after the update goes live." For more, see this FAQ page.

In January, meanwhile, scores from "Play a Evidence" mode will use to leaderboards, which Harmonix hopes will encourage more than people to use that style.
